The Mechanics of the Tax
Credit
-
A donor will make
their gift to the STO. As donations are received, a thank-you
acknowledgement letter will be sent.
-
Gifts may be made
in installments.
-
For gifts given
early in the year, the tax credit certificates will be mailed in
early December. For those gifts later in the year, the tax
credit certificate will be mailed with the thank-you
acknowledgement letter.
-
Even though gifts
may be made in installments, and more than one gift may be made
in a given year, only one tax credit certificate will be issued
per donor. For instance, if three gifts are made ($1,000, $2,000
and $5,000), one tax credit certificate for $8,000 will be
issued.
-
To really make a
difference, take the time to contact your state legislators and
tell them to continue to support the STOs. (click here to access them)
-
If you believe in
the power of Lutheran education, don't let the tax credit limit
your generosity. Even though the goal is to raise $490,000, we
can raise even more and distribute it--we're just limited in the
tax credits we can grant.
-
If you have a
Thrivent policy, be sure to apply for a matching gift. Also, the
STO is a recognized 501(c)3 organization which may qualify for
matching gifts from your employer.
